Hello, I'm Zack Franks. Owner, Director, Manager and Instructor of Zack Franks Movement and Dance 'MaD'.
My dance journey began in 2008 when I retired from Welsh Gymnastics to pursue the career pathway I now proudly call my employment. Starting off being self taught watching online tutorials on Youtube, before joining my first dance class in a studio called Jukebox in Cardiff. Here I found a love for dancing, started to perform in shows, compete and develop professional technique, attending more classes, including classes at 'The Dance Centre' in Bridgend. It was here I then began a private student teaching programme and volunteered giving me my first experience of teaching. I am now in my 10th Year of teaching and working for '
The Dance Centre Academy' where I deliver numerous dance classes for all ages and abilities.
In 2010 I completed my associate teaching examinations with the UKA (United Kingdom Dance Teaching Association) in multiple styles of dance, including street , hiphop, jazz and contemporary. Recently I have completed further qualifications within the UKA and Para Sport (Para Dance Uk) to improve my skills audit and gain more experience within the fitness and creative industry. In 2013 I also completed Level 1/2 Gymnastics qualification with A-Z Gymnastics.
Dancing has not always been my only interest. Growing up I was always keen to be on stage, and attended local drama schools, and after school clubs, participating in all comprehensive school productions and having lead roles such as 'Ryan' in High School Musical, and 'Seaweed' in Hairspray. I knew this industry was where I always wanted to work. I attend Bridgend College after 6th Form and graduated a BTEC Musical Theatre Course with Double Distinctions and then went on to in 2016 to proudly graduate University with a B.A Hons in Drama and Theatre (2:1 USW).
After graduation, I worked as a freelance performer/actor gaining experience in productions such as 'Peter Pan Pantomime as Peter Pan and Buttons in Cinderella, 'Puck' in A Mid-summers Night Dream and 'Mike' in East. I also worked as a teaching assistant, in both Primary and Secondary and worked as a dance lecturer at Bridgend College teaching NCFE Dance in Comprehensive Schools.
In 2018 I decided the time had come where I would combine all my experiences, and utilize my skills to their full potential setting up 'Zack Franks Movement and Dance'. Now the business works in over 20 Primary Schools across South Wales and engages over 1000 children a week of all ages and abilities.
Throughout my dance career I have had the opportunity to perform and compete all over the world and work with some fantastic and inspirational people. Some of my highlights include performing with 'Sky Ones 'Got To Dance', Street Dance 3D, Jukebox Juniors, Diversity, Flawless, and George Sampson. Highlighted titles include, World, European, British and Welsh Masters Champion, Welsh, British, English Street Dance Champion Advance, UDO Intermediate/Advanced Street Dance Champion, WDO Advanced Street Dance Champion Welsh BBoy Novice Champion, Nations Best Dance Crew.
